Small Group Course
Number of Students
There is a minimum of 2 and maximum of 4 people on this course.
Course Level Requirements
All students must be a similar level on this course. Lowest level for this course is Elementary and the highest is Advanced.
What does the course do?
It is a 5 day intensive course designed to improve your communicative abilities in the ‘real’ English-speaking world by interacting with it. Since this course has a smaller number of students than the Large Group Course, the teacher will have more time to spend on your individual requirements and learning. Therefore there will be more language analysis and more individual tasks, as well as a more intensive focus on your individual language strengths and weaknesses.
You will be given both group and individual tasks which will allow you to experience and deal with everyday interactive situations. Before and after each task there will be an in-depth learning and teaching session which will look at the task language. As your confidence and ability grows, each task will become progressively more demanding.
This course is more intense than the Large Group Course because of the fewer student numbers and the more time the teacher has with the students. It is a course for those wanting more of a demanding language study holiday and who want to study a little bit more during their course.
At the end of this course you will have been given a thorough testing of your language abilities in interactive situations, a comprehensive analysis of the language you have used, as well as a memorable and fun experience of studying on the Isle of Skye.
Course Fees
All small group courses are 425 GB Pound Sterling per person. Full payment is required 30 days before the start of the course to reserve your place and chosen dates.
Suggested Programme
The Small Group Course programme below is a general outline of what a typical course might be like. No one group course is the same, as student levels and language needs are always different, moreover, the course’s flexibility adapts to the students’ language needs over the duration of the course. However, the suggested programme should give you a good idea of what it will be like.
ARRIVAL
All courses begin on a Monday so we will expect you to arrive a day or so before in Portree. On the booking form you are asked to state your arrival in Scotland and your estimated arrival time in Portree, Skye. We will meet you when you arrive in Portree, take you to your accommodation and help you settle in. Depending on the time of your arrival and how tired you feel after your journey, your level of English will be assessed by the course teacher and you will be given a needs analysis test, so that the course programme can be made more specific to suit your level and needs.
