What are we about?

Imagine you’re in a classroom. You’ve just been taught how to ask for directions in English. You practice with some exercises and you role play scenarios. At the end of the class you feel fairly confident about what you’ve learnt. Thirty minutes later you’re standing in the street, having to stop passers-by to ask for a list of places your teacher has given you.

We believe that the town and streets can be an extension of the classroom and that the local people can be unwitting students and teachers in your lesson. Students on our courses are challenged and encouraged into exploring their use of English in real-life situations.

Our courses revolve around “Tasks.” These range from simple information gathering such as asking for directions, getting bus times, booking accommodation, and making enquiries at the tourist office, to more complicated tasks that can involve making a complaint over the phone, striking up a conversation with a stranger or researching an article you have to write. The list of tasks is endless and varies in difficulty depending on level.

Language preparation and informal teaching sessions are used to help build the students’ knowledge so that they can approach the interactive tasks with confidence. Afterwards, the task language and experience are consolidated with an in-depth feedback session.

We believe in making studying English a fun, sociable, interactive and memorable experience. After all, a study holiday is not only about studying, but having a holiday as well.

Why Skye?

The island of Skye is one of Scotland ’s most beautiful areas and any visitor who has been will tell you that it is a remarkable place to visit. It has a rich and vibrant culture, dramatic landscapes and its people are warm and friendly. We can’t think of a better place to invite people to come for a week, practice and improve their English, as well as have an enjoyable time.

We hope to see you here soon.
